There's a popular joke, "What do you call 2 sailboats in harbor?" A: "A race." Sailboat Racing's popularity isn't just about winning, but the combination of technical skill and camaraderie among crews. Late summer and early fall are the best times to be out on the Chesapeake Bay, cooler temperatures and good wind. In the months ahead there are a number of Regattas to particapate in withAtlantic Sailing Experience;
9/11: NASS Race to Oxford: Start off Annapolis, Race over, enjoy camaraderie, dinner, live music, awards, spend evening aboard, race back Sunday after breakfast; $250/guest includes Yacht Club entry, dinner and Sunday raceback.
9/12: Hammond Memorial Race Back
10/16:USS Constellation Cup/USS Constellation (Charity Regatta to benefit Historic Ships in Baltimore): Race from the Bay Bridge into Baltimore and enjoy the post-race dinner and live music aboard the Constellation before heading back to marina;
$250/guest, includes Constellation boarding and dinner
10/23: Leukemia Cup (Charity Regatta) A fundraising event to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
10/24: Baltimore Harbor Fall Back (RCRA)

Bermuda Ocean Race

The Wharf Rat Ocean Racing Team sailed into 1st place for their division in the 2010 Bermuda Ocean Race sponsored by the Eastport Yact Club and the St. George's Dinghy and Sport Club! After a grueling six day sail out of the Chesapeake Bay, through the Gulf Stream and Atlantic Ocean the team perseveried high winds, broken gear and ripped sails to finished first in Class taking line honors and First in Class corrected time!

Hoist the sails, grind the winches and trim the genoa
- your sailing adventure awaits as you enter the Chesapeake Bay
and set a course for the starting line. Join Captain Larry Vazzano
for fast-paced sailboat racing aboard the CS40 Wharf Rat. Work
to keep the yacht moving at target speeds as competitors try to
gain an edge over you and the fleet. Respond quickly and adapt
to the fast-changing environment of Sailboat Racing.
Individuals and
teams up to six can race with us for the day or weekend, two all night races are acailable to participate in, see Special Race Events link above.

RCRA Wednesday Night Racing
Wednesday Night Racing hosted byRock Creek Racing
Association begins the third week in April and finishes in Mid-October
with the club sponsored Baltimore Harbor Fall Back October 24. Join
us for an early evening on the Patapsco River between the Francis
Scott Key Bridge, Sparrows Point and the Chesapeake Bay for a short 2-hour race
followed by a Deck BBQ at Oak Harbr Marina in Rock Creek. $90/person
